Daigo Umehara vs. Arturo “sabin” Sanchez – The Rematch!

by gootecks on July 28, 2010

in Salty Suite

Part 1

Part 2

FINALLY!!!! Sorry for the delay guys, it was completely out of my hands. This match is a runback of THE match of 2009, where Arturo took Daigo all the way down to the last game last round and pulled it off! This time, it again comes down to last game last round, but I won’t spoil it if you haven’t seen it!

This match took place afterhours at Evo 2010 in the NorCal Salty Suite at Caesar’s Palace. Thank you to Machinima Respawn for getting it up on the channel as well as for getting a translator to translate Tokido and Eita’s commentary in part 1. Thank you to Team Spooky for streaming and recording this epic match. Also thank you to the English commentators for this match, Combojack and Chris Hu, whose genius idea it was to have the Japanese commentate for the first half.

If you haven’t seen the first match these guys played last year, check it out below:

Glenn from Get Your Tournament has an awesome statistical breakdown of the match as well. So please check that out if you want an in-depth look at some of the nuances of this match.

Will we see another runback at Evo Japan?!?!? Post in the comments if you would like to see it!

That was even more tense than last year. Bring on more salty runbacks!

Holy Shit!

I’m so glad I didn’t read anything before watching the videos! I was sitting on the edge of my seat every intense minute of this match!

Thanks for sharing!
Bookmarked and soon to be backlinked!

Props to both players there, Ryu finds it hard to get in on Dhalsim so what a game of intelligence that was

Yea I agree, why havn’t you done a podcast in like, forever? I’m sure there are plenty of things you could talk about like oh I dunno,

EVOLUTION 2010!?!?!?

I would love to hear your input on it, especially since your good buddy Mike Ross got 4th place. You could talk about some of the most surprising moments, like how JWong got eliminated by an Adon player, or how “surprising” it was that Daigo won again. Hell, you could even talk about the Salty Suite since you were mostly responsible for that!

Anyways, I’m glad this match was finally posted. When/where can I find all the matches played in the Salty Suite. It’d be cool to see Sabin and Daigo go at it again at Evo Japan, but thats assuming that Sabin can get the $$$ to go over there. Has any American players been confirmed to go there yet? Or will there be qualifiers to go to Evo Japan like there are for SBO?

I can’t understand one of the USA commentary guys. Looks like he’d been better off commentating the first half ;) .

there was almost no difference in skill between the two. I’d have to say Arturo was favorite throughout the matches, though with all the big tournament experience daigo has he could probably tame the pressure better. In the end the ‘daigo’ beast moments pulled it in his favour.
